Tom, a second year apprentice at global biopharma giant GSK, was joined by SWDT’s Senior Business Development Advisor Kirsty Lewton for the event at the Darlington school, which 175 students took part in.

He told the students about his apprenticeship and some of the equipment that he made at SWDT during his first year of training, while Kirsty explained about the training courses, progression routes and the opportunities available should they choose to do an engineering T-Level.

She said: “It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic students that were interested in a career within engineering.”

SWDT is holding an Open Event on Thursday November 30 from 5pm to 7pm. Register your place here: https://swdt.co.uk/Events/openeventoctober23
