New apprenticeships launched in response to employer survey feedback
We are launching two new apprenticeships in response to employer feedback to our Skills Gap Analysis survey.
The Level 4/Higher Apprenticeship: Automation and Controls Engineering Technician aligns with multiple sectors that are involved with manufacturing including automation, food and drink, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and construction.
The Level 4/Higher Apprenticeship: Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician is designed for employers in the engineering and manufacturing sector, including maritime, maritime defence, automotive, energy, engineering construction and general engineering maintenance industries. Lead maintenance engineering technicians typically perform a multi-disciplinary role, managing or leading other technicians.
Responses to the survey from certain industry sectors, in particular metal fabrication and welding, have informed changes to our core curriculum to enable young people to gain the relevant skills lacking within the sector from Level 2 practical courses and Level 3 theoretical courses to advanced apprenticeships all the way through to Level 4 manufacturing HNCs.
We’d like to thank all of the companies that took the time to respond as your input has been invaluable in the development of our curriculum going forward.

As a result of this initial success, today we are relaunching the Skills Gap Analysis online questionnaire and we will be specifically targeting engineering and manufacturing companies in the County Durham and Tees Valley areas.
This ten-minute survey could aid the future growth and development of your business. Please click on the link below to take part. As part of this research, we are looking for employers to work with us on our new Expert Advisory Panels. This will help us correlate our curriculum even more closely to the needs of industry.
