Fab day for Nathan at inter-college competition
It was a fab day for Nathan Hewick when he took part in an inter-college competition at Derwentside College in Consett.
For the 18-year-old first year apprentice with Solartron ISA in Shildon beat competition from a number of regional colleges and training providers in the North-East to win the first prize in the fabrication and welding challenge.
Nathan, from Sedgefield, said: “I originally studied at SWDT as a full time student on a Level 3 BTEC in Engineering. However, I successfully applied to Solartron ISA and started my apprenticeship with them in September.”
Fabrication and welding tutor Gary Bower (pictured with Nathan above) added: “Nathan showed a natural ability from day one of his first year practical fabrication and welding training. If he continues to develop his skills at his current rate I am sure he will go on to be a very skilled fabricator welder in the future.”
