The level 2 course in Fabrication and Welding is a one-year full time programme on which students will be required to attend college for three days per week.

The units studied will provide students with practical skills and knowledge of fabrication and welding. 

Students will carry out practical work in the fully equipped workshops, working on fabrication and welding machines and learning engineering skills including sheet metal working, Welding and plate-working. 

 

How will I be assessed?:

You will be assessed through; written portfolios, online and practical assessments

 

Things you may need:

You will need full PPE for undertaking workshop activities. This will include safety boots, overalls and safety glasses.

 

What can I do next?:

Students have the opportunity to progress to the L3 Diploma in Engineering technology once the L2 PEO has been completed and GCSE grades C or above have been achieved in Maths and English.

This course provides opportunities for employment in engineering industries as, for example; Advanced (L3) apprenticeships, engineering technicians and semi-skilled operators.

 

Entry Requirements

  • 4 GCSE's at grade C or Above including Maths and/or English
  • A satisfactory interview and
  • An Initial assessment of Maths or English at a suitable level, where a C has not been achieved in Maths or English

 

Course Cost

Course fee as set based on the age of the student at 31 August in the year they begin their study.

This course is fully funded for

  • All students aged 16, 17 and 18 
  • Learners, aged 19 to 23, without a full level 2 qualification

24+ students, will be required to pay course fees up to £3,300.
