Summary

This is a basic level course designed to offer a practical understanding of welding. This course should be looked at as the foundation of a future career in the welding industry or as an addition to existing skills in allied processes such as Fabrication or Sheet metal Work


This course is for beginners or entry level students; this  provides the opportunity to progress to training at a higher level, find employment, or select the competencies relevant to your job. For mature students this qualification can provide the opportunity to develop practical knowledge and experience alongside a career in welding/general engineering.


This is a modular programme, choosing from a range of welding processes:

 

  • Manual Metal Arc (MMA)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/MAG)
  • Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded Welding. (TIG)


Theory classes will contain Health & Safety, practical theory and operations and functions of welding equipment. Practical tasks are carried out so the tutor can assess your competence. The tasks are mostly standard across the different processes.
