Chief Executive - Permanent position – 37 hours per week

Grade: £50,000.00 per annum (with competitive annual leave entitlement)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional leader to take an outstanding training provider on to the next stage of its development. South West Durham Training, based in the heart of the Newton Aycliffe Business Park, is a leading provider of training for the engineering and manufacturing sectors in South Durham, Darlington, Tees Valley and beyond. This distinctive company, which is part of the Bishop Auckland College group, boasts excellent facilities, good financial health and was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in July 2014.

The new Chief Executive will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of South West Durham Training and is accountable for financial management of the Company. The Chief Executive will serve as a member of the Executive Council and will be responsible for delivering the vision and mission.

As determined by the Executive Council they will have a strong understanding of skills, issues and key industry sectors and be effective in engaging with businesses and responding rapidly to their training needs. They will inspire and motivate staff and students to achieve excellence, ensuring that South West Durham Training continues to maintain exceptional standards.

The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of level 3 in a relevant discipline.

Applicants will also have relevant industry experience or experience of working in an education and training setting, experience of effective people management and developing high performing teams, experience of attaining challenging performance targets, experience of compliance in industry or education (e.g. health & safety or Ofsted. Applicants must also have experience of effective engagement with a range of stakeholders, experience of business development to meet income targets and generate commercial income, effective budgeting and financial management to meet agreed targets, experience of dealing with external bodies/agencies and partnerships and experience of implementing strategies for quality improvement and quality assurance.
